Bo, the First Dog
April 16, 2009
Thursday April 16, 2009—I’ve been working on a double-dactyl poem about the Obamas’ new dog, Bo. “Portuguese water dog” had me off and running. I may have fudged the rules of the form a bit, though tried to stay close. Anyone else want to try one (a double dactyl or a poem about the First Dog, news of which certainly has tongues wagging)?

I just learned from Elaine Magliaro’s site Wild Rose Reader that award-winning children’s poet Kristine O’Connell George (Little Dog Poems and Little Dog and Duncan) has invited students in second, third, and fourth grades to submit mask poems “about our favorite canine friends” to welcome Bo, the First Dog.
